As School holidays are on a polite reminder to parents about the Cwmbach Community Wetlands

Cwmbach Community Wetlands wanted to make parents and guardians aware that their children from around the Cwmbach/Aberaman area have been illegally fishing, littering and being abusive, at the Cwmbach wetlands tonight around 7pm. All the children, young boys with fishing gear, aged 11-12 some wearing a red primary school jumpers, some in normal clothes.

The wetland land is privately owned land and does not permit public fishing rights. Also these kids have been discarding their used and tangled lines and hooks on the banks, paths and in the water. Tonight me and other members of the public have been shouted abuse at by telling them to stop and move on to the river where it is not private land. And moreover, a green line that was being used by the children has pierced an adolescent ducks beak, causing it to be unable to eat, the duck has then become tangled to another duck and both have been presumed drowned as they can’t be located.

Can whoever knows these children please make them aware that the wetlands are private and no fishing is allowed, also to clean up any fishing equipment as it is killing our wildlife.

Photos attached are that of the now missing ducks, fishing line. And school item left by one of the children who was fishing.

(Update, two children’s parents have gotten in contact and clarified their children were there but not the children that were shouting abuse. They’ve been dealt with regarding the fishing though)
