Jason O’Connell MS has urged the Welsh Government to base the new Welsh Development Agency (WDA) headquarters in the South Wales Valleys, arguing it is an opportunity to bring skilled, permanent jobs to communities that have too often been overlooked.
O’Connell is calling on ministers to commit to the Valleys as the home of the new agency, rather than concentrating yet another national institution in Cardiff.
Jason stated:
“The new WDA should be a catalyst for economic renewal. A fully staffed headquarters in the Pontypridd, Cynon, Merthyr would bring stable, skilled jobs, support local businesses and give communities the investment they’ve been waiting for.”
“Every office worker grabbing a coffee, shopping at lunchtime or using local services helps keep high streets alive. That’s why the location matters. Put the WDA in the Valleys, and you’ll create a ripple effect that benefits the entire local economy.”
“If the Welsh Government is serious about levelling up opportunity, this is the perfect chance to prove it. Don’t default to Cardiff again, put the WDA where it can make the biggest difference.”
