Reform Wales’ Shadow Minister for Economy and Transport, Jason O’Connell MS, has welcomed the management buyout of Merthyr Tydfil-based manufacturer Design & Supply, describing it as a boost for the local economy and skilled local jobs.
The £3.1 million deal will see the specialist steel door manufacturer acquired by an experienced internal management team comprising Tom Grother, Scott Davies and Damien Regis, with support from the Development Bank of Wales. The company employs 65 people at its Merthyr Tydfil facility.
Commenting, Jason O’Connell MS said:
“This is fantastic news for Merthyr Tydfil and for Welsh manufacturing.
“Design & Supply is a great example of a successful Welsh business with strong local roots, skilled workers and a reputation for delivering major projects across the UK.
“It is especially encouraging to see long-serving employees helping secure the future of the company, protecting skilled jobs and keeping the business rooted in south Wales.”
