Labour’s weak enforcement on sewage spills
Responding to the news that sea swimmers at one of Wales’ most popular seaside towns are being warned they may be bathing in contaminated water, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Climate Change Minister, said:
“Pollution in Pembrokeshire has become the main theme of Vaughan Gething’s Welsh Government.
“The Welsh Conservatives have long called for Labour and NRW to hold water firms to account, issue penalty fines, and allow environmental undertakings where damage to local communities is stopped and undone.
“Whilst I acknowledge that Welsh Water have a commitment to reduce the total number of pollution incidents by 24%, providing a target of 69 incidents or less, by 2030, surely we should all be aiming for zero.”
A long overdue call for overhaul of sewer system to tackle storm sewage discharges in Wales
