Council funding is a Labour time bomb
Commenting on his questions to the Minister for Finance and Local Government, Welsh Conservative Shadow Local Government Minister, Sam Rowlands MS said:
“Since the start of devolution council tax in Wales has risen by 200% all on the Labour Government’s watch.
“There is a fundamental flaw in the Labour Government’s funding of Welsh councils which enables some to build up hundreds of millions in reserves yet leaves others warning that they face bankruptcy.
“Instead of fiddling with council tax, Labour need to take urgent action to fix their council funding time bomb and do what we have been calling for, ensuring fair funding for all councils across Wales.”
