Labour’s attempts to avoid scrutiny and blame others will not wash

Labour’s attempts to avoid scrutiny and blame others will not wash

Labour needs to accept responsibility, apologise and stop cowering from scrutiny

Commenting on his exchange with the First Minister at FMQs today, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies MS said:

“The recent report by Ernst & Young identified serious failings in the North Wales Health Board. These include contracts awarded to companies via cosy backroom deals, dates being altered and executive and management override.

“When I asked Mark Drakeford about the report, I was astonished when he revealed he had not even read it. There are record long waiting lists in our Welsh NHS, and with this slapdash attitude it’s hardly surprising.

“For too long, Labour ministers in the Senedd have been distracted pushing minority fringe issues instead of focusing on the things that matter. It’s time for them to step up, focus on the day job and accept responsibility.

“Mark Drakeford refused to apologise to the former independent board members, despite the fact that they were subject to executive override and provided false information before they were scapegoated and thrown by the wayside.

“Labour’s attempts to avoid scrutiny and blame others will not wash.”
