A465 section 5 and 6: Access into Pant Industrial estate Something needs to be done to help stop the congestion with traffic entering the estate
As part of the work to upgrade the A465 to a full dual carriageway between Hirwaun and Dowlais Top we will be undertaking a series of phased works in the vicinity of Bryniau Road and Pontsarn Road in Pant. These works are needed to:
- Allow for utility services to be removed and relocated from Galon Uchaf/Bryniau bridge and the nearby roads, in preparation for the demolition of the bridge
- construct a new road layout to join Pontsarn Road and Bryniau Road
- construct new side roads
- progress works for the new A465 dual carriageway.
To undertake this work, the following traffic management will be introduced:
From 22 May 2023, for three weeks, a short section Bryniau Road running north from its junction with Pontsarn Road will be closed, as shown in the temporary road layout map (1).
From Monday 12 June 2023, Rocky Road will reopen and Galon Uchaf/Bryniau bridge will be closed.
A new temporary pedestrian crossing between Rocky Road and Pant Industrial Estate will be put in place across the A465. Please note that until the temporary crossing is open, pedestrian access will be maintained across Galon Uchaf/Bryniau bridge.
A short section to the west of Pant Industrial Estate Road will be closed, as shown in the temporary road layout map below (2). Access to businesses will be maintained.
Part of the new link road for Pontsarn Road will open, with access to local businesses in the western section of Pant Industrial Estate using this temporary route.
These closures will remain in place until spring 2025.
