A465 Overnight Closures from Cefn Coed (Junction with A470) to Hirwaun. 11 and 12 May 2O23.

As part of the work to upgrade the A465 to a dual carriageway, the A465 between Cefn Coed (A470 junction) and Hirwaun roundabouts will be closed in both directions overnight on:

Thursday 11 May 2023
Friday 12 May 2023

On these dates, the road will close at 20:00hrs and re-open at 06:00hrs the following morning.

The overnight closures are being undertaken to change the road alignment onto the new roundabout at the Crematorium Road junction. This will be operational from 06:00hrs on Monday 22nd May 2023 when Crematorium Road will re-open and be accessed from the new roundabout with the A465.

The closures are required to undertake work that cannot be safely completed whilst the road is open or under traffic management.

Diversion Route Information:

The diversion route for this closure is shown on the diversion map and should be viewed in conjunction with the following information: www.a465.org/RhigosCefnDiversion

For traffic travelling to and from Aberdare, it will be possible to use the yellow route which runs along the A465 between the Rhigos and Hirwaun (Trewaun) roundabouts, where there will be temporary traffic lights in use which may cause some delays.  Please note that during the weekend there will be no access from the Hirwaun (Trewaun) roundabout onto the A465 eastbound towards Merthyr Tydfil.

For all other traffic wishing to travel between Rhigos and Merthyr Tydfil, the diversion will be via the A4059/A470 following the green route.
