Covid-19: Shadow Transport Minister praises roads construction staff
The Shadow Transport Minister – Russell George AM – has today (April 30) added his voice to the appreciation of all involved in maintaining and developing critical roads infrastructure in Wales.
Mr George said:
“I want to pay tribute to all those who have been maintaining our vital roads infrastructure during the lockdown.
“The roads may have been emptier because we should only be making essential journeys, but we have seen probably as many freight vehicles on the roads either transporting cargo to or from overseas, and of course to our supermarkets and hospitals.
“So, I and my Welsh Conservatives colleagues give our sincere thanks to all those up and down the country involved in keeping our strategic roads infrastructure in good order; you’re making a perhaps unseen, but no less important contribution to the resilience and future of Wales.
“The lockdown will be eased one day, and the work still being carried out now will pay dividends for our people and our economy.”
Mr George added that any roads construction staff with concerns about working during the lockdown should visited TUC Wales’ dedicated webpage at: https://www.tuc.org.uk/news/covid-19-health-and-safety-concerns-work .
