Two men have been jailed following a South Wales Police investigation into three incidents in Pontypridd and Caerphilly.
Eighteen-year-old Yasin Hussain (D.O.B.: 10-04-2008), of no fixed abode, was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison
Nineteen-year-old Adam Taylor-Morris (D.O.B.: 10-05-2007), of no fixed abode, was also sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison.
The pair were sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court today. In a previous court appearance, Hussain pleaded guilty to three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. Taylor-Morris also pleaded guilty to three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.
Hussain and Taylor-Morris were driven down from Scotland on the day of the incidents by Taylor-Morris’s sister Danni Taylor.
The first incident occurred on Porcher Avenue in Glyncoch at around 4am in the morning on Monday, June 1, 2026. The family in the house were woken up by a living room window being smashed by a brick.
This was then followed by a ‘Molotov cocktail’ which was aimed to be thrown through the broken window however the bottle did not go through and smashed on the floor outside. Hussain and Taylor-Morris then fled the scene.
Hussain and Taylor-Morris then got a taxi to the Caerphilly area.
The second incident happened in Caerphilly at around 7am on the same day where a brick was thrown through a window at an address on Wallis Drive. A glass bottle full of petrol was then thrown through the window, the bottle ignited on impact. This fire was then quickly extinguished.
They then got a taxi to the third incident which happened around 9am on the same day at an address on Pearson Crescent in Glyncoch. Hussain and Taylor-Morris can be seen loitering for several minutes before approaching the address. With Taylor-Morris filming on his phone, Hussain then puts a Molotov cocktail through the open window of the living room, which sets the room alight.
Detective Constable Connor Michael said:
“These were deliberate and dangerous arson attacks which could’ve had devastating consequences, including serious injury or loss of life.
“The sentences handed down reflect the severity of the offenders’ actions, and we hope they serve as a warning that such reckless behaviour will not be tolerated. We would also like to thank Police Scotland and Gwent Police for their assistance throughout the investigation.”
Danni Taylor, 24, from Perth and Kinross, who pleaded guilty to participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group, will be sentenced at a later date.
