Community Flood Recovery Grant to help residents and businesses

The Council will provide financial support to residents and businesses affected by the flooding following Storm Dennis.

The Council will provide support – via a new Community Flood Recovery Grant – of £500 for residents and £1,000 for businesses, which have suffered internal property damage through flooding.

County Borough Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of the Council, said: “As a Council we recognise the devastating impact this severe flooding event has caused to family homes and businesses.

“It is therefore proposed that support of £500 for residents and a £1000 for businesses will be made available as soon as practicable possible, to support families and traders.

“It is clear from the assessments still taking place that it will take a significant time for residents, businesses and impacted communities to recover; the unprecedented nature of this flooding requires us to assist residents in whatever way we can, be that in practical or financial terms.”

Details on the process for residents to follow will be published tomorrow. The Council has published key information and advice for residents and business on its website: www.rctcbc.gov.uk
