The Law Society of England and Wales has issued a practice note on differences between English and Welsh law that is intended to give an overview of Welsh devolution, divergence and devolved powers and potential impacts on solicitors’ legal practice.

The Law Society said: “This practice note intends to help solicitors advising clients in England and Wales identify which legal framework applies.
“It highlights key differences in education, health and social care, housing and property, agriculture and rural affairs, and planning.”
Chancery Lane stressed that the practice note is its view of good practice in this area, and is not legal advice.
“New laws mean nothing if the public bodies charged with upholding them ignore them.”
