As we head to the polls this Thursday, May 7th, the people of Aberdare and the wider Cynon Valley face a massive choice.
With Welsh devolution starting in 1999, we are now marking exactly 27 years of Labour running Wales. For nearly three decades, we have seen the same decisions, the same excuses, and the same decline in our local services.
If you want another 27 years of the Welsh Government screwing up Wales, then by all means, keep voting for them.
But if you want real change, you have to look at the reality of the choices on the ballot:
- The Coalition Trap: Voting for either Labour or Plaid Cymru is simply a vote for a Labour-Plaid coalition. It’s two sides of the same coin.
- More of the Same (or Worse): Voting for Plaid or the Green Party will only make things worse than they already are.
- A New Direction: If you have any sense at all, it is time to vote for a party that wants a completely new way of running Wales—not the same old establishment.
“They are all the same” is a trap
It is easy to get cynical. It is easy to look at Cardiff Bay from here in Aberdare and feel completely forgotten by the same old crowd of career politicians who only seem to care about our valley when they want our votes.
But the biggest mistake we can make is staying home and saying, “What’s the point? They’re all the same.” If we don’t turn up, nothing changes. The only way to break this cycle is to get out, make your voice heard, and cast your vote. Only you can make a change for Aberdare and for Wales this Thursday.
