Cwmbach Wetlands: No Fishing Permitted – Public Notice

We would like to remind all residents and visitors that fishing is strictly prohibited on the Cwmbach Wetlands. This is private community land and a protected site where fishing, lighting fires, and other unauthorised activities are not allowed.

We have recently been made aware of individuals fishing illegally, even erecting a fishing platform on the large pond and remaining on site overnight. These activities pose a serious threat to local wildlife and habitats and violate both civil and environmental laws.

The Wetlands are carefully maintained by a small group of volunteers who are committed to preserving the area for the benefit of the community and the ecosystem it supports. Unfortunately, a few individuals are making this task increasingly difficult.

We are working closely with the police, who have confirmed they are actively patrolling the area. Anyone caught engaging in illegal fishing or damaging the Wetlands will be reported and may face prosecution.

We encourage anyone who witnesses such activity to report it immediately to the Wildlife Officer via 101, and if possible, to provide a description or photo of discarded fishing gear. This will assist in identifying offenders and preventing further damage.

Please remember:

  • The Cwmbach Wetlands are private and protected land.
  • Fishing here is not permitted under any circumstances.
  • Trespassing and fishing in protected areas can result in civil and criminal penalties, including fines and prosecution under environmental protection laws.

Let’s work together to protect this precious natural space. Thank you for your cooperation.
