Building safety not a priority for this Labour government
Responding to the oral statement from Labour’s Housing Minister on building safety, Mark Isherwood MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Housing Minister, said:
“While Labour claims progress is being made on building safety reforms, delays and gaps persist in protecting Welsh residents.
“Despite warnings from the Grenfell Inquiry and the Auditor General’s Report, Labour’s delays are leaving residents vulnerable and their proposed oversight lacks clear accountability for residents’ safety concerns, which should be prioritised rather than sidelined in bureaucracy.
“The Welsh Conservatives demand faster action and robust timelines to make buildings safe, to give peace of mind to residents frightened that they will be woken up by a fire alarm rather than an alarm clock.”
