Plaid Cymru to challenge the RCT Labour Cabinet’s decision to change waste collections.
We will not sit back and ignore the voices of our residents. We have serious concerns about this change and do not accept that one size should fit all.
We will be joining other councillors from different parties following the acceptance of our call-in request. The residents of RCT have again been ignored by the Labour Party who didn’t feel it necessary to consult on this significant material change.
The reasons for this call-in request include:
– There is a need to further consider the negative impact of the decision for the residents of Cynon Valley and Taf Ely.
– There is a need to consider the negative impact of the decision for RCT Waste Collection Crews.
– There is a need to further consider the environmental impact of the decision on the Cynon Valley and Taf Ely.
– There is a need to scrutinise a cost-benefit analysis to inform the decision-making.
– The decision to proceed was taken without prior consultation with residents and without prior consultation with premises that fall under the Workplace Recycling Regulations 2024.
The next step is to share the concerns of residents to the Overview & Scrutiny Committee (which is mainly made up of Labour councillors). It is important to share your views with your local councillors- https://rctcbc.moderngov.co.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1…
