Ffos-Y-Fran: Labour must ensure the site’s safety

Responding to the news that the company and council involved with the UK’s largest opencast coalmine refused to appear before the Climate Change Committee, James Evans MS, Shadow Rural Affairs Minister, said:

“The Welsh Government must get a grip on this situation before the mine becomes more dangerous.

“The council and the company who profited from this mine both have a responsibility here to the residents concerned about the safe restoration of the site.

“Labour must take a more hands-on approach to this issue and ensure the restoration of the site goes ahead, so local residents can feel safe.”
