Overnight Road Closure – A465 Between Cefn Coed (A470 Roundabout) and Hirwaun.
As part of the work to upgrade the A465 to a dual carriageway the following changes are being introduced to allow construction work to progress in the following locations:
Between the Afon Cynon river bridge and the Vale of Neath railway bridge at Hirwaun, A465 traffic will be switched from the current carriageway onto the new carriageway running adjacent to it. This will allow what will become the two eastbound lanes of the new A465 to be constructed.
In addition, A465 traffic currently using the temporary route at Croesbychan will be switched to the north of what will become the new A465 between Nant Melyn river bridge and Croesbychan. (see the illustration).
This switch will provide the team with the space needed to further progress construction of the new Nant Melyn river bridges
To put these changes in place there will be an overnight closure of the A465 between Hirwaun and Cefn Coed from 20:00 on Thursday 22 February 2024 with the road re-opening at 06:00hrs on Friday 23 February 2024.
