Education is vital to preventing bullying
Commenting on his spokesperson questions to Labour’s Social Justice Minister in the Senedd this afternoon, Welsh Conservative Shadow Equalities Minister, Altaf Hussain MS said:
“Bullying can take place in many forms and occurs in different settings from the playground to the boardroom, with far too many people are subjected to bullying. I reminded the Labour Minister that bullying usually relates to a protected characteristic.
“Just last week a report to Bridgend County Borough Council highlighted 43 racial and discriminative incidents recorded across the county. More needs to be done to protect pupils from harm.
“As bullying evolves in the modern tech era, there is often no escape for victims. I put it to the Labour Minister that education on the consequences of these actions is vitally important as many instances can fall under hate crimes and cyber-crimes.
Unfortunately, the Labour Minister failed to commit to a satisfactory action plan to prevent bullying in Wales.”
