A year on from Drakeford’s outburst, ambulance waits have worsened

Commenting following his exchange with Mark Drakeford today at First Minister’s Questions, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies MS said:

“This time last year, I questioned the First Minister on the record low response times of Welsh ambulances, his response was his notorious outburst that reverberated through the media at the time.

“A year on, the figures have worsened again, meaning you now have less than a 50/50 chance of an ambulance arriving within the target time of 8 minutes for the most serious calls.

“Just this week we saw several severe cases of ambulance delays in Labour-run Wales which culminated in a 28-hour ambulance wait outside Morriston Hospital and an ‘extraordinary incident’ declared by the Welsh Ambulance Service.

We know that the Labour Welsh Government can act to fund vanity projects when it suits them, from blanket 20mph to 36 more politicians, instead, they need to get their political priorities right and fix our Welsh NHS.
