Welsh Labour fail to commit to eliminating 2-year NHS waits this year
Commenting on his exchange with Mark Drakeford at First Minister’s Questions today, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies MS said:
“The First Minister likes to point his finger down the M4, blaming Westminster for Wales’ woes, but Labour has controlled the health service here for 25 years and on their watch over 30,000 people are waiting 2 years for treatment and 1-in-5 patients on a waiting list are waiting over a year.
“Labour-run Wales is an outlier on this issue, with 2-year waits virtually eliminated in England. It is no wonder, given the fact that Labour cut health spending here in Wales, not once but twice – in 2012 and 2023, the only government in the UK to have ever done so. “Three times I asked Mark Drakeford whether or not he would commit to eliminating those 2-year waits this year, three times yet again he failed to answer the simple and fair question put to him.
