Statement in response to Welsh Gov’s ‘Help us Help you’ optometry campaign

The following statement is RNIB Cymru’s response to the expected launch of the Welsh Government’s new optometry campaign later this week:

“In response to Health Minister Eluned Morgan’s launch of the ‘Help us Help you’ optometry campaign, RNIB Cymru’s Director Ansley Workman says: “Visiting your local optometrists (optician) is about so much more than checking whether you’re short or long sighted or picking up some new glasses. Optometrists play a vital role in making sure we keep ourselves healthy by picking up early signs of a range of eye and general health conditions. That’s why we’re supporting this new campaign and if you’re over 30 we’re urging you to book your next sight appointment today, it could be the best thing you do for your health.

“Anyone looking for extra advice and support about their eye health or sight loss can also get in touch with RNIB’s Helpline by calling, 0303 123 9999.”
