Welsh Labour is obsessed with their vanity projects

Labour hypocrisy laid bare at transport questions

Commenting on her exchange today with the Labour Deputy Transport Minister, Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, Natasha Asghar MS said:

“With nearly 1-in-4 on a Welsh NHS waiting list and nearly 40,000 waiting over two years for treatment, you’d have thought the Labour Government would be funnelling resources into tackling this issue head on.

Labour are obsessed with their vanity projects

“Instead, Labour are obsessed with their vanity projects, like their insistence on propping up a loss making airport to the tune of a quarter of a billion, a road building ban, and blanket 20mph zones. Both political decisions have spiralling ongoing costs that are continuing to rise.

“But, surely, given the Deputy Transport Minister’s enthusiasm for alternatives to driving and being the poster boy for Labour’s transport policies, he should be setting an example. His 12,000 miles worth of mileage claims and £5,500 car expenses, since becoming a Minister in 2018, would beg to differ.

Ministerial car nearly 40 times to get to Cardiff from nearby Penarth

“He has also made use of his luxurious chauffer driven Ministerial car nearly 40 times to get to Cardiff from nearby Penarth. In the same amount of time, just three rail tickets have been claimed. This seems to be a case of one rule for Labour Ministers, one for the rest of us.”
