RHONDDA CYNON TAF NATIONAL EISTEDDFOD OPEN MEETING
Following a highly successful launch in Treorchy at the beginning of the month, organisers are holding an open meeting about preparations for the National Eisteddfod over the next eighteen months, with the festival due to visit Rhondda Cynon Taf in August 2024.
The meeting will be held at Block B, University of South Wales, Treforest, on Thursday 16 March at 19:00, and there’s a warm welcome for everyone.
This is the first opportunity to hear about the committees pulling together the list of competitions before working with the central team to create the artistic programmes for Eisteddfod week itself. It’s also a chance to find out more about the awareness and fundraising work and organising local events and activities.
Helen Prosser, Chair of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Eisteddfod Executive Committee said, “We’re all fired up after our recent launch in Treorchy, and ready to get started preparing for the Eisteddfod. I hope everyone has had a taste of how we want to work during the launch. We want our festival and the next year and a half to be a chance for everyone to come together to celebrate our language and culture in a warm, inclusive and friendly way.
“We’ve waited a long time to organise a National Eisteddfod here in Rhondda Cynon Taf, so I encourage everyone to come along and join the team for 2024. We want to hear from everyone, confident Welsh speakers, those who’ve lost touch with our language since school days and those who haven’t started learning Welsh yet.
“The Eisteddfod, our language and culture belong to us all, and we want everyone to have a say and a part to play in organising our Eisteddfod here in Rhondda Cynon Taf.”
Following Thursday night’s meeting, the committees working on the list of competitions will meet again on Saturday 18 March at 10:30 at the University of South Wales, and the awareness-raising committees will also meet very soon.

CYFARFOD AGORED EISTEDDFOD GENEDLAETHOL RHONDDA CYNON TAF
Yn dilyn lansiad hynod lwyddiannus yn Nhreorci ddechrau’r mis, cynhelir cyfarfod agored i sôn mwy am waith yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol dros y deunaw mis nesaf wrth baratoi ar gyfer ymweliad y Brifwyl ag ardal Rhondda Cynon Taf ym mis Awst 2024.
Cynhelir y cyfarfod ym Mloc B, Prifysgol De Cymru, Trefforest, nos Iau 16 Mawrth am 19:00, ac mae croeso cynnes i bawb.
Hwn fydd y cyfle cyntaf i glywed am y pwyllgorau a fydd yn tynnu’r Rhestr Testunau ynghyd cyn cychwyn ar y gwaith o gydweithio gyda’r tîm i greu’r rhaglenni artistig ar gyfer wythnos yr Eisteddfod ei hun. Bydd cyfle hefyd i glywed mwy am y gwaith codi ymwybyddiaeth, arian a threfnu digwyddiadau lleol yn yr ardal ac i ymuno â’r tîm fydd yn arwain ar y gwaith yma.
Meddai Helen Prosser, Cadeirydd Pwyllgor Gwaith Eisteddfod Rhondda Cynon Taf, “Yn dilyn ein lansiad diweddar, rydyn ni i gyd yn barod i gychwyn ar y gwaith o baratoi ar gyfer yr Eisteddfod. Gobeithio bod pawb wedi cael blas ar beth yw’r Eisteddfod, ac yn gweld ein bod ni am i’n gŵyl ni a’r gwaith paratoadol i fod yn gyfle i bawb ddod at ei gilydd i ddathlu ein hiaith a’n diwylliant mewn ffordd sy’n gynnes, cynhwysol a chyfeillgar.
“Rydyn ni wedi disgwyl yn hir am y cyfle i drefnu Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yma yn Rhondda Cynon Taf, felly rydw i’n annog pawb i ddod draw ac ymuno gyda’r tîm ar gyfer 2024. Rydyn ni eisiau clywed gan bawb, yn siaradwyr Cymraeg hyderus, y rheini sydd wedi colli cysylltiad â’n hiaith ers dyddiau ysgol a’r rheini sydd heb fynd ati i ddysgu Cymraeg.
“Mae’r Eisteddfod, ein hiaith a’n diwylliant ni yn perthyn i ni i gyd, ac rydyn ni am i bawb gael llais yn nhrefnu ein Eisteddfod ni yma yn Rhondda Cynon Taf.”
Yn dilyn y cyfarfod nos Iau, bydd y pwyllgorau sy’n gweithio ar y Rhestr Testunau’n cyfarfod eto ddydd Sadwrn 18 Mawrth am 10:30 ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru, a bydd y pwyllgorau codi ymwybyddiaeth yn cyfarfod yn fuan iawn hefyd.
