Labour’s business rates punishing Welsh economy

Responding to the news that an increase in business rates in Wales has created a “perfect hurricane” for hospitality and retail firms, an industry body has warned, Peter Fox MS, Shadow Finance Minister, said:

“The Labour Government, have effectively doubled business rates, punishing companies across Wales and damaging the fragile Welsh economy.

“I have previously expressed my disappointment in the Labour Government’s refusal to reverse the damaging relief cut for Welsh businesses when rates were already the highest in Britain.

“The Welsh Conservatives would reverse Labour’s business rates hike which is making Wales a hostile environment for business.”
