REMINDER: A465 Cefn Coed to Dowlais Upcoming Traffic Management.
As part of our work to upgrade the A465 to a full dual carriageway the following traffic management needs to be introduced:
A full weekend closure of the A465 between Cefn Coed and Dowlais will take place from 20:00hrs on Friday 17 until 06:00hrs on Monday 20 February 2023. During this closure, amongst other works, our team will be undertaking concrete infill works at Taf Fechan Viaduct.
Overnight closures of the A465 between Cefn Coed and Dowlais:
- Monday 20 February
- Tuesday 21 February
- Wednesday 22 February
- Thursday 23 February
- Friday 24 February
- Monday 27 February
- Tuesday 28 February
- Wednesday 1 March
- Thursday 2 March
- Friday 3 March
On each of these dates the road will close at 20:00hrs and re-open at 06:00hrs the following morning.
The overnight closures are required to allow steelwork to be installed on the underside of the Taf Fechan Viaduct. This steelwork is an essential part of the work being undertaken to strengthen and widen the Taf Fechan viaduct.
This work cannot be undertaken when the road is open. However, as this is a substantial amount of work, we have planned to undertake it during this series of overnight closures to help minimise disruption for road users.
Other work will also take place throughout the area to maximise the use of the closure time.
Once all work on the bridge has been completed, a new non-motorised route alongside the A465 will be opened, which is suitable for pedestrians, and cyclists.
