Labour’s neglect leaving Welsh hospitals in disrepair

Commenting on the news that less than two thirds of buildings owned by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are “operationally safe”, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Health, Russell George MS said:

“It is staggering that Labour ministers have let Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board fall into disrepair through complete neglect.

"Across Wales the cost of the maintenance backlog more than doubling to three-quarters of a billion pounds in just five years shows that the Labour Government are not interested in the upkeep of hospitals.

“It is clear that Labour’s neglect is causing avoidable harm to the welfare of both patients and staff.

“Labour ministers must get a grip on the true scale of the damage they are doing to our NHS and stop breaking all the wrong records.”
