When you wanted Welsh Labour to vote yes they Voted no so now it’s your chance to have your vote on the May 6th don’t waste it

With only 6 days to go before you vote in the Senedd Cymru elections, the question is do you want more of the same a labour government controlling the Welsh political landscape as they have for over 22 years with the help of Plaid Cymru and the Welsh Liberal Democrats, you have the choice and the chance to change the status quo.

So what affected many people in Rhondda Cynon Taf over the last few years apart from our council tax increases a staggering 188% increase in council tax bills, whilst local services in Rhondda Cynon Taf have declined enormously.

I would say flooding has affected many people in Rhondda Cynon Taf over the last few years with thousands of residents have had their properties damaged by floodwater, some residents have been flooded out 3 and 4 times.

Storm Callum 12-13 October 2018 heralded some of the worst flooding in the last 30 years. The rainfall, which reached 180 mm or over 7 inches in the top of the Cynon Valley, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council in 2018 claimed to have spent £100,000 to carry out investigation works and CCTV surveys of inside the culverts.

A total of £300,000 was allocated to Land Drainage and Flood Risk Management schemes across the County Borough, Council had £23.6m Highways Capital Programme for 2018/19.  The Council also made a further £100,000 available to respond to the damage caused by Storm Callum last year.

Then we had Storm Ciara the previous weekend to Storm Dennis February 15-17, 2020 caused record river levels and flows as Rhondda Cynon Taf saw its most significant flooding since the 1970s, with 1,476 properties internally flooded. In total, 17 storm events were experienced in the past year, including those in February 2020.

A number of floods in areas can be put down to lack of maintenance to watercourses and culverts this can be seen by the large number of projects the council has on at the moment on watercourses and culvert renewal a bit like closing the door after the horse has bolted. So what did the council achieve in 2018 after they spent £100,000 to carry out investigation works and CCTV surveys of inside the culverts before Storm Dennis hit in 2020?

So what did the labour controlled Rhondda Cynon Taf council do when the people who voted them in ask for a Public Inquiry into the frequent flooding in Rhondda Cynon Taf they all voted no to your request, well now its your chance to vote for change in the Senedd Cymru elections.

Then there is the Senedd itself governed for 20 years by labour just like Rhondda Cynon Taf Council an old boys club in the full knowledge you the public will keep voting for labour so why have a Public Inquiry. Natural Resources Wales do whatever the Senedd wants that’s why we need to understand why the flooding is happening and along with other decisions taken the mass felling of trees on steep-sided valleys, or lack of maintenance of drains, culverts and flood defences, all were contributing factors to some homes and businesses being flooded. These are all unanswered questions by both the labour council and the labour run Senedd little wonder some Senedd Members don’t want a Public Inquiry.

May 6 2021 only you can alter the system. You also have a vote for either returning the labour Police Commissioner or go for a change.
