Chance to nominate your favourite home carer

THE VULNERABLE and elderly across Wales who are cared for at home can now (June, 2017) nominate their favourite carer for an award in recognition of the work they do.

The domiciliary care provider Abacare is asking service users to put forward carers working for the organisation for a series of accolades including Carer of the Year and Dementia Champion of the Year.

Peter Angelides, CEO at Abacare, said: “Our Abacare Awards, which include 10 different categories, celebrate the outstanding contribution our staff and carers make to the lives of those they care for. The closing date for entries is July 30, 2017 at midnight and we’re keen to hear from as many of our service users and their families and friends as possible.”

Abacare has become well-known as an industry leader in the care sector and has more than 600 employees in Wales.

“Team members can also nominate their colleagues in the various categories too and we are open to nominations from all members of the public too. The categories include ‘Carer of the Year’, ‘Best Newcomer’, and ‘Lifetime Achievement’ and many more. My fellow directors and I, along with a panel of other industry experts, will select the finalists and the overall winners. We’re really looking forward to reading all the submissions.”

All the finalists will be invited to a special awards ceremony in the autumn, at a date and venue to be confirmed, where the overall winner in each category will be announced and presented with their award.

Entry forms and a full list of categories are available via www.abacare.org.uk/news.
