CPW ELECTS NEW CHAIR & VICE-CHAIR
Community Pharmacy Wales (CPW) has elected a new Chair and Vice-Chair for the forthcoming year.
At its recent Annual Meeting CPW Board Members elected Mark Griffiths as its new Chair.
Born in Cwm, Ebbw Vale, Mark qualified in 1985 and worked in various managerial and locum positions. He purchased his first business in 1997 and started Cambrian Alliance Buying Group in 2000, along with 5 other pharmacists. Mark is currently the PSNC member for Wales and attends pharmacy development group meetings. He has previously sat on Merthyr Local Health Board.
Outside of pharmacy, Mark is a keen rugby supporter and currently the President of his local rugby club and is also a patron of the arts through a trusteeship of a local theatre.
He succeeds Phil Parry who remains a member of the CPW Board.
Sam Fisher was elected as Vice-Chair for the coming year. A graduate of the Welsh School of Pharmacy, Sam has held several field based operational roles including Area Manager and Regional Operations Manager, then latterly central roles responsible for leading key business transformation initiatives. Her current role is Head of Pharmacy Affairs for Celesio UK. As well as being a main board member of CCA, Sam is also member of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC)and the PSNC Funding and Contract Sub- Committee, and is also a member of the Welsh Pharmaceutical Committee.
Community Pharmacy Wales (CPW) is recognised in the National Health Services (Wales) Act 2006 and by the Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Health & Social Services as the only organisation responsible for representing all of the 716 community pharmacies in Wales on all matters relating to NHS community pharmacy services.
CPW is the only organisation that represents every community pharmacy in Wales. It works with Government and its agencies, such as local Health Boards, to help protect and develop high quality community pharmacy services and to shape the NHS community pharmacy contract and its associated regulations. In doing so, it aspires to achieve the highest standards of public health and the best possible patient outcomes.
