New Season At Lido Ponty
Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is all set launch its 2017 season, opening to the public on Saturday, April 8.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is delighted to announce that its fantastic £6.3m outdoor family attraction will open in time for the Easter holidays for a special two-week period.
Lido Ponty is set to re-open to the public on Saturday, April 8 until Sunday, April 23. It will then be open fully for the 2017 summer season from Saturday, May 27, to Sunday, September 10.
Children under the age of 16 will again be able to swim FREE at Lido Ponty in 2017, with a minimal charge of £1 for adults and £2.50 for activities in 2017. This is in response to feedback from the public following the success of the facility and its popularity during good weather and school holidays.
As well as the opportunity for lane swimming and more relaxed swims, and a Splash Pool for the little ones, there will once again be a whole host of activities on offer at Lido Ponty throughout the season. From fun inflatables to Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz, there will be something for everyone.
Visitors will be able to book their swim sessions and activities online and in advance, with limited spaces also being made available daily at our Reception Desk. Please note: Bookings cannot be made over the telephone.
This year marks the 90th anniversary of the original opening of the lido at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in Pontypridd, on July 30, 1927.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “I am sure this is going to be yet another memorable year at Lido Ponty, especially in this milestone year as we commemorate the original opening 90 years ago this summer.
“Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is now well established as a popular 21st Century family attraction in Rhondda Cynon Taf, with a proud history and we look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors in 2017.
“Please come and join us during the Easter holidays and throughout the summer months.”
