Charlotte is 90,000th visitor to Lido Ponty!
Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, has welcomed its 90,000th visitor since opening exactly a year ago this Bank Holiday weekend.
Charlotte Hammett, of Campbell Terrace, Caegarw, Mountain Ash, is the 90,000th visitor, much to the delight of her accompanying family.
Charlotte had been along to Lido Ponty on a few occasions this season and was surprised to become the milestone visitor.
“It is hard to believe that Lido Ponty has been open for a whole year – it is such an amazing success story,” said Charlotte.
“I love bringing my family along. There is nothing quite like this place anywhere else in Wales – and it is only a short walk away from the busy town centre.
“What a great start to the Bank Holiday. I never expected to be the 90,000th visitor.
“We all had a great day out at Lido Ponty and it was also my husband Mark’s birthday, making it an even more special occasion.
“There is so much to keep children entertained. We will most certainly be coming back very soon.
“It is a very special place right here in Rhondda Cynon Taf. It is a place to be proud of.”
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “Since opening last August, Pontypridd and Lido Ponty have welcomed visitors from all over Rhondda Cynon Taf, the UK and even overseas .
“Among our highlights to date has been welcoming His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall to the National Lido of Wales.
“We’ve had a typical welsh summer with a mixture of sunshine and rain, but it has been great to see such high demand for the Lido, whatever the weather.
“There is no other facility like it in Wales and we are so proud to be the National Lido of Wales.
“With the number of people visiting the Lido hitting 90,000 since its re-opening last August, it is also having a positive economic impact on Pontypridd town centre and the surrounding area as well as developing Rhondda Cynon Taf even further as a visitor destination.”
