UK Government prepared to take a 25% stake to secure steel future
Commenting on today's announcement by the UK Government that they would be prepared to take a 25% equity stake to help facilitate a purchase of TATA Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies, said:
"This announcement shows how serious the UK Government is about protecting these jobs, fighting for Welsh workers, and securing a viable long term future for the steel industry.
"The Prime Minister and his colleagues have been working around the clock to secure a deal, and the fact that they are prepared to take such a significant stake in the business can only improve prospects for a sale.
"Clearly, it's still early days in the process, but the Conservative government has laid it's cards on the table. The First Minister must now be prepared to reveal how much of a stake his government is willing to take."
