Maerdy Mountain Road Update
Investigative works are underway to determine how and when repairs will be made to the Maerdy Mountain Road following the landslip on 31 December 2015.
Since the landslip, the road has been monitored on a daily basis and traffic management measures have been put in place to keep the road open.
Investigation works, in the form of ground tests via onsite drilling, are well advanced and will be completed over the next few days.
These investigation works will inform a final report which will outline the work required and associated timescales for completion.
It is estimated that the costs of fixing the road will exceed £1m.
The Council recognises the importance of the Maerdy Mountain Road and would like to reassure residents that all steps will be taken to ensure the road is repaired with as little disruption to road users as possible.
