A new ‘Wave’ of opportunity for South Wales radio boss
Helen Bowden lends her Voice to multimedia startup
One of the leading figures in South Wales radio, Helen Bowden, is stepping away from her 20 year broadcasting career to join a Swansea startup.
Mrs Bowden, who left her post as Station Director of The Wave and Swansea Sound last week, has taken on the role of Managing Director at VoiceBox – a multimedia agency based in Swansea.
Reflecting on her decision, Mrs Bowden said: “I’ve enjoyed the most wonderful career in radio, working with some of the most talented people in the industry. But the time feels right for a new challenge. Digital multimedia is rapidly changing the way we consume content and VoiceBox is at the heart of that change; it’s an opportunity which I couldn’t turn down. I’m excited!”
Mrs Bowden’s move to VoiceBox sees her join forces with Anna Bastek, the multimedia agency’s co-founder and celebrated entrepreneur. Speaking of Mrs Bowden’s appointment, Miss Bastek said: “I’m both personally and professionally delighted to be working with Helen. I’ve always been a huge admirer of her professionalism and her success which, in such a competitive market – over so many years, is testament to her leadership and her ability to adapt.”
Miss Bastek added “Myself and the entire VoiceBox team couldn’t be more excited to welcome Helen to the team.”
VoiceBox provides multimedia services such as voice overs, subtitles and transcription to some of the world’s most recognisable brands including Disney, Discovery and News Corp. As a multilingual specialist, the agency offers all of its services in over 200 languages – enabling brands to localise their content for foreign territories.
The recruitment of Miss Bowden comes just month’s after VoiceBox announced that they’re due to open a Silicon Valley office to satisfy the demand of their US customers.
