Bronwydd Pool Investment
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s ongoing investment in Leisure Services continues with the creation of a brand new gym and refurbishment of reception area at Bronwydd Pool.
The regeneration works at the popular leisure venue in Porth will see the gym double in size and the introduction of a completely-new range of machines and equipment for all to enjoy – in a bright, modern gym with views over the lovely pool.
The reception area will be given a much-needed revamp and the building will also have a new air handling unit to ensure temperatures poolside and in the changing rooms are managed more efficiently.
Work at Bronwydd is due to start on January 22, from which date the gym will be closed until the completion of the works, expected in March. A partition will be put up to allow swimmers to continue to enjoy the pool, without being disrupted by the works to the gym.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “The exciting new regeneration at Bronwydd Pool will create a modern new gym which is twice the size of the original one and packed with the latest machinery and equipment for users to enjoy.
“The announcement of this exciting leisure project comes just a few months after the creation of the new gym at Hawthorn Leisure Centre and the opening of the multi-million-pound Sobell Leisure Centre in Aberdare.
“We made a commitment to invest in leisure, creating modern, welcoming venues that would attract new customers and help residents live a healthier way of life and the project at Bronwydd is further proof of that.
“As part of our campaign to encourage more people to love leisure for life, we also introduced the new membership scheme and are pleased to confirm that, for 2016/17 the annual pay-in-advance, the committed monthly (pay by direct debit) and the Corporate Leisure for Life membership prices will be frozen once more.
“Other, uncommitted elements of the membership and pay as you go prices will rise, but these will stay at the same price, offering unlimited gym, swim, class and indoor sport at all Council Leisure Centres.”
With Leisure for Life annual pay upfront and committed direct debit memberships CONFIRMED as being protected from Leisure price increases for 2016/17 there really has never been a better time to love leisure at Bronwydd Pool.
The Leisure for Life Membership allows you to enjoy unlimited gym, swim, classes and indoor sports at any of the Council’s nine leisure centres and swimming pools, so those who are unable to use the gym during the important works at Bronwydd can choose another centre to train in temporarily.
Further information on the works, closure dates and impact on customers will be released shortly. Customers are reminded that the health suite at the centre will be removed as part of the scheme
