Read on. Get on. Every child in the UK reading well by 11

Save the Children’s ‘Read on. Get on.’ campaign is raising awareness of the effect of poverty on children’s reading ability.

The campaign aims to ensure that every child living in the UK is a confident reader by the age of 11. Good literacy skills are thought to be one of the best routes out of poverty, with reading being the key to unlocking a child’s full potential. However, over a third of the poorest children in the UK leave primary school without suitable reading skills.
