Statement from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council on Upper Boat Traffic Delays caused by a lorry parking at the junction of the diversion route
“The Council apologises for the delays caused this morning (Wednesday) and is working with South Wales Police to avoid similar congestion tomorrow (Thursday).
“This morning’s delays were largely caused by a lorry parking at the junction of the diversion route, which blocked access on to the main road. Once this lorry was removed with the assistance of South Wales Police, congestion in the area was relieved.
“This diversion route has been used in the area previously and worked well, with a minimum disruption caused to motorists. Following the issues highlighted this morning the diversion route has been further amended and full details can be found on the Council website www.rctcbc.gov.uk.
“The Council fully appreciates that this is a major gyratory, which acts as a main artery to the A470 and it would like to reassure residents that this work is essential and will in the long term ease the traffic flow in the area. Due to the type of works being undertaken, a part closure is required for several weeks and therefore the work cannot be carried out during the night. The Council would ask motorists to follow the traffic management in place and avoid using side routes where possible.”
