Welsh Hills take part in Brecon Awareness Week Walk 2016

To mark Coeliac UK Awareness Week, staff from dedicated gluten-free manufacturer, Welsh Hills Bakery, are preparing to trek 10km around the beautiful Usk Valley.

Eight members of staff will take part in the Coeliac UK Brecon Awareness Week Walk on 7 May and have sponsored £450 towards the charity.

All money raised will go towards Coeliac UK, the world’s oldest and largest coeliac disease charity. The current campaign, #isitcoeliacdisease (www.isitcoeliacdisease.org.uk) which ties in with the national Coeliac UK Awareness Week (9–15 May), aims to find the 500,000 people living in the UK with undiagnosed coeliac disease.

Fundraisers on the circular walk will endure a 200m climb to the top of Pen-y-crug where they’ll be able to savour the sights of the River Usk, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. Welsh Hills Bakery will also be on hand to serve walkers their Lovemore gluten-free refreshments throughout the walk.

Samuel Davies, head of fundraising at Coeliac UK, said: “It is wonderful to have the support of Welsh Hills Bakery for the charity’s Awareness Week walks, which we run in partnership with HF Holidays. These walks help to generate the funds and awareness that is so important in helping to find thousands of people in the UK struggling with undiagnosed coeliac disease.”

Business Development Manager for Welsh Hills Bakery, Paul Haines, said: “We’re delighted to be involved with the Coeliac UK Awareness Walk, it’s obviously a cause that is very close to our hearts. We wish our team, and all the other fundraisers, the best of luck.”

Welsh Hills Bakery has donated a further 200 Lovemore snacks for the four other Walks which are taking place across the UK. To find out more about the walks and how you can get involved visit www.coeliac.org.uk/aww2016
