Aberdare Welsh Hills announces Tŷ Hafan as its Diamond Jubilee Charity of the Year

Aberdare-based Welsh Hills Bakery, creator of Lovemore Free From Foods, has announced Tŷ Hafan as its charity of the year to coincide with its Diamond Jubilee.

The dedicated gluten, wheat and dairy free manufacturer, which was established in 1956, will support the respite care charity over the next 12 months and has kick started its fundraising efforts at the recent Tŷ Hafan Family Funday on Saturday August 6.

Welsh Hills donated a Lovemore hamper which was raffled off at the fun day, which was held at the Tŷ Hafan hospice in Sully. The event featured local craft and food stalls, live musicians as well as offering hospice tours for visitors to see firsthand the inspirational work that the care team do to support terminally ill children and their families.

Kelly Simmons, Regional Fundraising Manager for Tŷ Hafan, said: “We are thrilled that Welsh Hills Bakery has chosen to support Tŷ Hafan as their charity of the year. We need to raise more than £4m each year to provide our services to life-limited children and their families and couldn’t do this without the public’s support.

“We take our services right into the heart of the family home and are there for families through every step of their unimaginable journey. Thank you again to Welsh Hills Bakery for their support, we really do appreciate it.”

Managing Director for Welsh Hills Bakery, Peter Douglass, said: “We’re very supportive of our local community in South Wales and look for opportunities to help where we can. With it being a big year for us, we’d like to do something extra special and will be coming up with creative ways to raise as much money for the incredible Tŷ Hafan so they can continue to provide the support they give to both the children in their care and the parents.”
