Tree felling works at community route to Dare Valley Country Park plus a planning application
The Council will shortly undertake a week of essential work to fell diseased trees on the community route leading to Dare Valley Country Park. The intention is for the route to remain open, but users may face some disruption.
The work is unfortunately necessary due to Ash Dieback, which is a serious disease affecting ash trees. From Monday, December 2, the Council will remove the dead and dying trees which pose a health and safety risk. The Council regrets the felling of these trees, but this work must be completed.
The section of the community route affected is from near Gadlys Pit Car Park in Aberdare town centre, in a western direction to Dare Valley Country Park. The scheme is scheduled to last around a week.
Work will take place from 9am-3pm each day – avoiding disruption for those who use the route near school opening and closing times. It is intended for the route to remain open at all times, but users may be asked to wait for a short period during the work hours, to enable the ongoing tree felling and ensure safety.
The Council would like to thank residents and users of the community route in advance for their cooperation. Please note, this tree felling is not part of the recently-announced £1.4m improvement scheme at Dare Valley Country Park.
