Plaid-Labour budget deal continues to fail Wales

Commenting on the deal on the Supplementary Budget between Labour and Plaid Cymru, Darren Millar MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said:

“While we welcome any extra funding for pupils with Additional Learning Needs, this deal is merely a continuation of the same failed budget approach by the Labour-Plaid duopoly that has been letting down the people of Wales for decades.

“We need a more fundamental change to the Welsh Government’s budget to address the longest NHS waiting lists, worst educational standards and lowest wages in Britain.

“And the Plaid Cymru Welsh Government must stop wasting money overseas that should be spent on public services here in Wales.”

Sam Rowlands MS, Shadow Minister for Finance, said:

“This supplementary budget is tinkering around the edges of a budget that fails to deliver for the people of Wales.

“While we welcome money for pupils with Additional Learning Needs, after 30 years of Labour and Plaid Cymru, we need a change in direction to fire up the Welsh economy and improve standards in our public services.”
