Fernhill & Glenboi Community Centre means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some, it’s where they spent their childhood. For others, it’s where they met friends, attended events, learned new skills, or simply felt part of something. And we believe it should always be at the heart of our community.
We want to see this centre thrive. We want to put it back into the hands of the community and create a space where local people come together, share ideas, learn new things, support one another, and build something special.
We want to see kids clubs and after-school activities. We want family events, summer fetes, quiz nights, community meals, card game nights, coffee mornings, and opportunities for people of all ages to connect.
We want to reopen the café area and bring the kitchen back to life. We’d love to create a space where friends can meet for breakfast, where older people can enjoy a home-cooked meal, and where local groups can gather around shared interests.
We want a food pantry and a hygiene bank, holiday activities, community projects, training opportunities, and so much more. The ideas are endless…
But we also need to be honest!
The community centre is at a critical point in its journey.
A small group of volunteers have worked incredibly hard over recent months to keep things moving forward, but without people using the centre, supporting events, sharing ideas, volunteering their time, and helping us raise the funds needed to keep the doors open, the future of the centre becomes much harder to secure.
This building has been here for generations.
We want it to be here for generations to come.
But that will only happen if the community gets behind it.
Whether that’s buying a raffle ticket, attending an event, volunteering for an hour a month, sharing a Facebook post, helping with a project, or simply coming along and having your say.
Every person matters.
Every idea matters.
Every little bit of support matters.
Because together we can create something that future generations will be proud of.
