SWP Drugs bust Fernhill Estate, Mountain Ash.

Officers in Aberdare, along with a number of partner agencies launched Operation Violet Cobra today to tackle drug related antisocial behaviour and disorder on the Fernhill Estate, Mountain Ash.

4 warrants were executed with 2 arrests made. A number of items and drugs were seized.

Local officers worked alongside colleagues at RCT Council, RCT Homes and Community Safety Partnership to identify those responsible for a number of drug offences as well as associated criminal behaviour.

Local Police Inspector Mathew Lewis explains: “This operation expanded upon the recent work already being carried out in Fernhill Estate and specifically targeted local priorities and concerns highlighted by residents.

“We carried out a range of activities in the area including the issuing of drug warrants. We focused on known offenders who have caused problems recently and ensured that we worked alongside our partners to quickly respond to any concerns raised.

“Tackling anti-social behaviour is a key priority for us. There is no place for it in our communities. It can have a detrimental effect on the quality of life for local communities and can cause people to feel intimidated and fearful, in particular those who may be more vulnerable or elderly.

“However, anti-social behaviour can affect anyone and everyone and Operation Violet Cobra is our response to ensuring this behaviour remains low across the Fernhill Estate and that the community feel safer.

“Local knowledge is extremely valuable and we would encourage Fernhill Estate residents to get in touch if they have any concerns or information that might be helpful.”
