Starmer may be going but Labour’s failures remain

Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS, has responded to Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation, warning that changing Labour’s leader will not change the impact of Labour’s failures on Wales.

Families and businesses across Wales are still facing the consequences of Labour’s choices on the cost of living, energy, welfare and defence spending. Wales needs a UK Government that is prepared to take tough decisions, back working people, support Welsh jobs and deliver the stability the country needs.

The Welsh Conservatives said the focus must now be on getting Britain working again, not replacing one Labour leader with another who will continue the same failed approach.

Commenting, Darren Millar MS, said:

“Sir Keir Starmer may be going, but Labour’s failures remain.

“The last thing Wales and the rest of the UK needs is another Labour leader who won’t stand up to Labour MPs on welfare, energy, defence spending and action on the cost of living.

“His decision is a reminder that Kemi Badenoch is the only leader of a political party in the UK with the backbone to make tough decisions and get Britain working again.”
