£10 Million Worth Of GP Contracts Handed Out Without Proper Due Diligence Checks

The Welsh Conservatives have called the findings of the Audit Wales report deeply concerning after it revealed Aneurin Bevan University Health Board failed to carry out proper due diligence checks before awarding more than £10 million worth of GP contracts to eHarley Street.

The report highlighted failures to properly assess financial and workforce risks before contracts were handed over, leading to disruption and uncertainty for patients and staff across several GP surgeries in south-east Wales.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Minister for Health and Social Care, Natasha Asghar MS said:

“These findings are deeply concerning and raise serious questions about oversight, accountability and decision-making within the health board.

“Patients and staff were left facing disruption and uncertainty because proper scrutiny was not carried out before these contracts were awarded.

“The Welsh Conservatives believe lessons must be learned to ensure robust checks are in place, protect frontline services and restore confidence in primary care across Wales.”
