Duo jailed after dealing class A drugs

Two men have been jailed after pleading guilty to a number of offences involving class A drugs.

Lee Austin, 35 from Llantrisant, has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to be concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of crack cocaine.

Tegan Smith, 21 from Cardiff has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine. The sentencing took place on Tuesday February 10, 2026, at Cardiff Crown Court

The case stems from a South Wales police investigation which started with officers from the organised crime unit spotting a red Ford Fiesta that was known to be associated with drug users in Talbot Green.

Officers then followed the car before it stopped on a dead-end street, officers then arrested Austin who was driving the car, Smith managed to run away from officers, but he left behind a black bag and a black jacket. When officers searched the bag, they found multiple wraps of crack cocaine and a small amount of cash. Officers also recovered a mobile phone and more crack cocaine in Smiths jacket pocket.

Smith was arrested at a later date.

PC Jonathan Jones said “The possession and supply of drugs not only has a significant negative impact on those in the community; it also often exploits young and vulnerable people.

“There is no place in our communities for these drugs”

“I’m pleased to see this sentence handed down and hopes it gives Austin and Smith some time to reflect on his actions.”
