A465 Overnight Closures and change in road layout

As part of the ongoing construction works the following overnight closures are required on the A465 between Hirwaun (Rhigos Junction) and Cefn Coed (A470 Junction):

Tuesday 14, Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 January 2025.

On each date the closure will start at 20:00hrs and the road will reopen at 06:00hrs on the following morning.

During these closures road surfaces will be laid and safety barriers installed in a number of locations.

Other work will also take place throughout the closure area to maximise the use of these closures, which is required to undertake work that cannot be safely completed whilst the road is open or under traffic management.

Change in road layout:
On the evening of Friday 10 January 2025 the following changes are being made to the road layout at Croesbychan at the Eastern end of Hirwaun, please refer to the illustration.

The mini roundabout will be taken out of service. (A)
Swansea Road, Hirwaun will no longer connect with the A465 at the mini roundabout. This access will be permanently closed. (B)
The new Swansea Road underpass will be opened (C) This will connect Hirwaun with Llwydcoed and will be the access route onto the A465.
Initially the underpass will be for road users only whilst finishing works, including the footpaths are being completed.
The temporary access for Keepers Lane will remain in use whilst further work is undertaken to the permanent access.

Please note:
Whist this change is being put in place there may be some minor delays. However the road will remain open during this work.
