A 46-year-old from Pontypridd was sentenced on Thursday, December 12, to eight years and three months in prison at Merthyr Crown Court after pleading guilty to wounding with intent at Cardiff Crown Court on October 7th.
On the June 18 Rayla Milne inflicted a vicious and unprovoked attack on a 58-year-old man whom Milne had only met for the first time that morning.
Around 8:15am the victim was walking home when he noticed Milne. The two of them sat drinking in a lane between the Probation Service and Kwikfit. Around 9.10am Milne started shouting aggressively at the victim who was sat silently on the floor. Milne then slapped and punched the man to the face and head several times, knocking him temporarily unconscious. Milne launched a violent, ferocious and unprovoked attack which lasted around 4 minutes when the victim was repeatedly kicked and punched to his head. Milne was pulled away by passers-by before officers arrived and made an arrest.
Officer In the Case DC Georgina Prince said: “This was a horrific and violent attack on an innocent, kind and blameless man who had no idea what was coming”.
“Rayla Milne is clearly a danger to society, and I welcome the sentence handed down. Violence of this nature will not be tolerated, and we will put those who commit this type of offence before the courts”.
