James Barnes, 42, appeared at Merthyr Crown Court earlier this month after admitting possessing the drug but not supplying it.
Officers forced their way into his home in Dyffryn Y Coed on the morning of 28th June (2018) using a chainsaw to gain entry quickly to carry out their search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Inside the address and Barnes' car officers located a baseball bat, cash, scales and mobile phones – a search of Barnes himself resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine.
He tried to claim the items seized by police were owned for legitimate purposes – the scales to weight his supplements for training; the bat for playing baseball, but the jury saw through his lies and found him guilty of possessing with intent to supply after a two day trial.
Anybody who suspects drug dealing should contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
